So I’ve had this idea I’ve wanted to use for a long time, where I had a character who “summoned” ancient warrior spirits and I was wanting to flavor Spirit Guardians into that. Then I was thinking of classes that could utilize it(Cleric, Crown Paladin, Warlock but use Spirit Shroud instead) and while Cleric made the most sense, none of the domains really clicked with me. Then I remembered Divine Soul Sorcerer, and I became really excited.
Use the metamagic that increases the range, so it would make it 30 foot instead of 15, so people would need to run 60 feet to get away from you. I then had the idea that why not just keep with the movement lockdown features and take 2 dips into warlock so I can get Eldricht Blast with Lance of lethargy and I can hit a couple more targets to reduce their movement even more.
The image of warrior spirits flying around, attacking enemies and then you’re making them hunker down in one spot just seems like a super fun CC build since EB can target different people with each blast and it just gives me the feeling of “hold the line”. I just don’t know which warlock “patron” to pick since I’m mostly focusing on the theme mentioned prior. Undying just so undead have a hard time messing with me? Undead so I can get some temp HP and make people frightened when they get hit with EB? I don’t like Celestial for this so I just want to see if anyone has anything to improve on this idea
Cool idea but sadly does not work unless your DM makes a houserule and allows it.
Distant Spell. When you cast a spell that has a range of 5 feet or greater, you can spend 1 sorcery point to double the range of the spell.
When you cast a spell that has a range of touch, you can spend 1 sorcery point to make the range of the spell 30 feet.
Both Spirit Guardians and Spirit Shroud have a range of self. Sadly this means you cannot apply the Distant Spell metamagic to it unless your DM houserule it that way.

Ah that’s really lame :/ Didn’t realize that. Still works just on a smaller scale. My DM probably will house rule it, but even if he doesn’t still works fairly well, just have to be closer
