Hello, I'm very new to d&d so I'm not sure how this works exactly. So, at level 1 an Aberrant Mind Sorcerer knows 2 first level spells and 1 cantrip and also at level 1 a sorcerer knows 4 cantrips and 2 first level spells. My first question is, Does the Sorcerer now have 5 cantrips and 4 first level spells or can they only use the 2 Aberrant Mind first level spells and 3 cantrips plus Aberrant Mind cantrip? Lastly, Sorcerers only learn 1 spell when they level up but at level 4 and 10 level they get 1 more cantrip. do you have to choose between learning a cantrip or spell or can you just learn both? Thanks.
The cantrip and spells you get from the AM subclass do not count against your spells known. So you have five cantrips and four spells. Getting new cantrips is a sorcerer feature so you do not have to choose between learning a cantrip or a spell. You learn both.
