Hello. I am stuck on a decision for my soon to be level 4 sorcerer. He is a gnome and has draconic origins, He loves to burn stuff. He works well at cleaning up at the end of the round in a battle. His stats are listed below. You can see why he is usually late in the initive order.
Str: 9 Dex: 9 Con: 14 Wis: 11 Int: 13 Cha:17
These are the options i am looking at. - Should pick to increase charisma and another stat to increase, as they are odd. - Pick the Elemental Adept feat - another option
With all those odd scores I'd probably bump Charisma and Dexterity by 1 each.
Did you roll your stats though? Given how many you have as odd I'd also consider asking your DM if they'd let you just switch some of them around by 1 point to even them out a bit, e.g- move a point from Intelligence to Wisdom, and one from Strength to Dexterity. If you used points buy then I'd ask about just swapping them about retroactively. Having a bunch of odd scores is a common build problem, and a thing I really hate about the way ability scores work, as it just makes a character unnecessarily weaker (and it's confusing for new players).
If you can get that sorted then you can either use your ability score to boost Dexterity by two, or take a half feat that boosts Charisma (such as Fey Touched, Shadow Touched or Skill Expert).
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
Yes, i rolled those stats. I will talk to my DM. Thanks all for the advice. I will lead towards the stat increase of charisa and dexterity. That is if my dm wont let me switch around some stats. (+ 1/ - 1)
oof. Yeah ASI. 9 dex is not something I would even consider playing. I'd laugh at my DM and say no. This is one reason why I loathe rolled stats. I had to do that crap in 2e, and now there's better ways accepted out there.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
