Using Extended Spell with Aid right before a long rest is another really nice buff.
I get the idea behind Extended Aid: that it will persist through the long rest, effectively giving you a "free" buff for the day. Unfortunately, it doesn't work because temp HP/Max resets upon taking a long rest.

You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.
Temporary Hitpoints do reset on a longrest Aid doesnt add temporary hitpoints. (its weird) Can you point me to maximum hitpoints being reset, or are you taking that from undead maximum hp reduction being reset on a long rest, Sig?
Warding bond for 2 hours instead of one is good idea in theory, but the spell breaks if you ever move out of 60'.
Shield of faith twinned or extended can also be great ability if used on others (so you add 2ac to the front line and they wont lose it if they are hit, only if you are.
Subtle metamagic is a rarely chosen one, but cutting out the somatic and verbal components can have you wandering along with prayer of healing or other long cast spells and none the wiser - it still doesnt let you cast a second spell whilst internalising the long cast but if you need a distraction / illusion / anything when observed its useful. If your experiences involve combat situations constantly then dont worry about it.

Just reread the entries on resting in general, short rests, long rests, and hit points... couldn't find anything about resetting max HP! In the character sheet app, taking a rest has the option for resetting max HP on by default, so that was confusing.
That opens up a lot of neat options. Most days, I'd probably end up using extended Aid still at the beginning of the day. Making sure the benefit lasts for the entire average waking day is generally worth being taxed a spell slot to me, but I like the idea of being able to dump my highest remaining slot into a free large HP max increase when resting in a dangerous area, or if I know I'm gonna need every slot I can the next day.
Twinned Shield of Faith is a great metamagic combo, especially if you are one of the front liners too, but it's blown out of the water by doing the same thing with Haste.

I might make a sorc if my party fails to rez my ranger. To be a buffer, what spells should I take for a level 9 divine soul?

Haste twinned, Greater Invisibility twinned, and Bless are all great choices for your concentration.

Thanks, all!
Another decent quasi-buff is to twin Guiding Bolt.
