So is it just me or should metamagic options have alternate uses? For example
Quickened=Half casting time Careful=Advantage on check (I dont know really)
I just think there should be more choices for out of combat. I kind of feel like subtle spell and extended spell are the only out of combat. Thank you everyone
As for out of combat uses, you can always Twin Enhance Ability or other such out of combat buffs. Yes, you can upcast the spell for the same effect, but using Twin is slightly less impactful to your resources.
You could also use a spell like Enemies Abound and Distant to cause a distraction without being noticed.
An interesting take. I would say Distant Spell, Extended Spell, Heightened Spell, Subtle Spell and Twinned Spell all have great out-of-combat use.
Personally I really wish more of them could be used in conjunction. Casting something like Suggestion or Dominate Person with Subtle, Heightened, Twinned, and Extended all at once - or in whatever combination - would be awesome.
Also Subtle spell can be awesome in combat. If you're hidden you can stay hidden, and if there's enemy spellcasters you can't be Counterspelled.
