Hi, hi, I know I've been incredibly indecisive, but this is final. Instead of a Feylock, I will be making a Shadow Sorcerer named Loki. What are some good races that either fit thematically with the class or just really good with sorcerer(Subraces too and stuff like that, like the Half-Elf Drow or something), and some good multi-classing options?
If you are going for more of a marvel movie vibe, the changeling isn't too bad. I personally like the Levistus tiefling.
As for multiclassing warlock is good, his deal with thanos, the game master, etc, etc. Arcane trickster rogue is also a good combination, just pick spells that don't require attacks or saving throws for AT spells and you are golden.
So, I'm planning for Loki to be a reincarnation of an ancient bloodline of human Necromancers and Hexblades that was struck down by a group of Aasimar Paladins. The last of them remaining, a young adult named A'aamat, cast a wish spell and wished to be reincarnated in a 1,000 years time, but have no memories of her bloodline. Just after she completed the spell, a greatsword pierced through her head, and she fell.
1,028 years later....
Is that a good backstory for Loki, the Tiefling Shadow Sorcerer?
Basically, I'm stuck on what spells and cantrips to pick. plz help
I would go with neither of those spells. My first level spells would be shield and sleep. Chaos bolt generally stinks imo. Chromatic orb is OK, but sleep is a game changer at low levels. Shield is a must.
For cantrips, I already have ray of frost as a ranged attack spell from Levistus tiefling, so I would not choose another one. If another race, I would take chill touch as it's thematically appropriate. Since you went down the cold path, I took frostbite as a vs save spell. I'm not really a fan of the options open to shadow sorcs for that tbh, but cold and shadow seem to kinda work. I like to have one attack cantrip (roll vs AC) and one save spell (enemy saves or takes damage). I'd pick shocking grasp as a melee spell. This is for emergency use, the hope is you never need it. I like minor illusion, it can be a very useful spell. Finally, I like prestidigitation.
If it were /my/ shadow sorc, I'd probably not go with Levistus Tiefling, I'd go half-drow instead. I'd cut shocking grasp and use my dagger for emergencies, and pick up chill touch as my ranged attack cantrip.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

What's the Levistus Tiefling? What are the ability scores for each of the Tiefling subraces?
it is in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, +2 Cha and +1 Con and replaces spells with Ice spells. Gives life to the frost giant lineage.
Huh.......
Ice Tiefling Loki....

Dipping into the Bard (College of Whispers or College of Swords) could add some interesting elements to your Loki.
