I had a idea of making a ranger that's synonymous with the phrase " the shots were coming from every where " I was thinking 3 levels in fighter echo knight and the rest on ranger don't know which subclass going for a 1 man army thing any ideas
Hunter seems like a possibility with horde breaker and volley
Gloomstalker also seems like it would be a very good option - it fits thematically and you can get off a large number of attacks, especially if you take the crossbow expert feat. Stalker's furry also helps with this
Horizon Walker is a possibility though you'd have to wait a while to get distant strike which would be the specific ability you'd be aiming for, but it would fit exceptionally well with your concept.
