Here is my background story is it to Long ?? is this what a Dm is looking for ??
There comes a time in a young persons life where the decision is made to leave home. To go out and explore the world on your own. Mine came earlier then most. I was in a dark place at that time. My mind filled with conflicting emotions. Thoughts of foreboding that seemed to grow as the weeks turned into months. It seemed all the goodness and the light that my mother bestowed onto me growing up, was slowly fading into a dull dimly lit void. It was in an old abandon farmhouse that my world would change forever.
However before I continue I suppose I should tell you a little bit about myself and how i came to be in that farmhouse that fateful day. My name is Azazel. It was outside the city of Baldurs Gate at the stroke of midnight with only a midwife and my mother present to witness my arrival into this realm. I wonder even now if her cries were of happiness or sorrow? You see from the beginning i was an abomination in the eyes of the world. I was neither human nor one of the great races. I was a Tiefling a creation of something unholy. At an early age i would come to know the torment and ridicule of the outside world. I couldn't understand why my very appearance caused fear in everyone I would encounter. Wondering why I didn't have a father? All the People that would visit and whisper to my mother. I was confused and angry yet curious and intrigued. My dreams were dark and foreboding but yet somehow filled with hope and light. My curiosity grew with every year.
I remember the first time asking mother about my father and the life they had before me. i wanted to know every thing about them. Where and who he was and why he was not in our lives? It was then I found the answers to many of my questions. My mothers name was Lorialilian and was born into the house of Elonar of Woodshire. A great race of Elves who's lineage goes back to the beginning of men. Her name was known in all the realm as a great warrior and paladin. She was feared and loved by all. One evening at the very stroke of midnight during a storm the likes that hadn't been seen in a millennium. She was visited by a demon in her sleep that tricked and seduced her while she lay exposed and dreaming. He took her to a place neither in this world or the other world. It was a space between comforting yet dark. It was in this space i was conceived. Afterwards the Demon told her his name was Asmodeus King of the Demons and servant to only one other. That their offspring would grow strong and brave and one day would follow the Ways of the Old Dark Gods. And then as the great storm slowed to just a the sound of a soothing rain he was gone in the night.
It was shortly after this unwed and with child she was banished from Woodshire. Forsaken and on her own she made her way to the City of Baldurs Gate. Outside the city she sought refuge in a small cottage and a new life. She raised me in the holy light and holy ways of a Paladin. Protecting me from the truth of who my father was.
The farmhouse was clearly abandoned but proved to be a safe and warm shelter. I quickly fell asleep and immediately my dreams were invaded by a mysterious dark figure. The more I tried to stay in the light and uphold the ways of a Paladin the more this figure would come to haunt me. It was then that i met my father for the first time at the stroke of Midnight on a moonless night. i learned before that night was over he was not the dark figure of my dreams.
Everyone I know makes a first character how they think it should be, and that's kind of a rite of passage everyone should experience. It helps them learn.
Only through playing do you learn the best way for you to make your character. Everyone can have different ways that work for them, and that goes for first experiences, too.
Start with that backstory and see how it works for you as a baseline, and learn from it. For all you know right now, it might be exactly what your DM wants. You gotta start somewhere.😁
EDIT: Your DM is a valuable resource during character creation in specific campaigns. Discuss questions with your DM.
Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
Very creative. I like the hooks and the writing (typos aside). I feel it lacks essential information. If you're a paladin, what deity do you follow? Did you follow your mother's religion? Did you have any friends? Mentors? Adversaries or rivals? Try your best to expand off of just your character's story, and into the world around them.
I'm going to play as a Tiefling Paladin
Getting ready to start a DnD game in a few days.
