I'm making a Samurai wood elf fighter focusing on Archery and want to come up with a good reason for him to be adventuring or traveling in our games current world. For context in our current game we are in the typical medieval fantasy setting, but in most places magic is outlawed due to events in the past campaign along with the worship of any deity's that don't belong to a specific set of 5 or 6 gods. currently the party is in a port town controlled by a evil (and possibly not human) government official that's been staidly working his way closer to the crown (currently 3ed in line as of recent events). It is important to note that in our game most pureblood elves other than wood elf's don't naturally inhabit material plane.
The party currently consists of
Draconic sorcerer (Royalty also the son of an old player from last campaign)
Abjuration Wizard (Cursed son of a character of last campaign)
Tempest Cleric (New but he is a sailor)
Assassin rouge (Belong to our games assassins guild that's well known)
Glory Paladin (Doesn't RP much but is typical good guy that's got your back)
High Elf Horizon Walker ranger (From another plain and is hunted because he is wanted back)
I'm currently looking for inspiration on why the character might wont to join with the party. the simple option is he want to see the downfall of the current lord slowing gaining more and more power, but im open to ideas. I am wanting to really lean into the samurai idea and the Bushido Code
The Bushido Code: The Eight Virtues of the Samurai
For ease of RP I'd likely go Ronin and be attached to either the Wizard or Sorcerer as their bodyguard (assuming wither are happy for you ot be such a thing), that way you can go where they go and be trying to gain favour and a new Lord whilst working toward any other goals you might have. If you do want to see the end of a current lord then you also have the "47 Ronin" option of going adventuring to throw the Lord;s spies off your trail whilst you plot the Lord's demise.
Thanks for the advice, I was thinking a possible Ronin idea to start but had no clue how I would go about it but that definitely opens that option back up.
