The skeletons came out of nowhere. As the village sounded the warning bell, the first line of skeletons came up to the wall, wielding hammers in one hand and picks in another. "Get the fighters!" One villager called out. "There's too many! We need to hide!" Replied another. The walls slowly began to crack. A harvester boy clutched his scythe, ready to fight against the skeletons if they come. The walls now had cracks all over the surface, and some small parts began falling off. Dark clouds rolled in from the south, casting a shadow over the land.
A loud crashing sound erupted through the air as the walls fell down. The skeletons charged into the village, thirsting for blood. A few blacksmiths ran at them with their forging hammers and began fighting. An older, dark-haired blacksmith thrust his hammer into a skeleton's ribcage, breaking parts of it off. However, the skeleton didn't seem to care and knocked the blacksmith back with his mace.
Just then, a horn blared through the air, and the Villagers cheered. A druidic warrior ran up to one of the skeletons and gave a mighty swing with his glaive, hacking a skeleton's skull off. He pierced another skull with his crossbow, then breathed a a feirce blast of lighting that took down a whole line of swordsmen.
"I've heard of him." A women whispered to her husband. "It's Kygga the Dragonborn! I heard he is a warrior and a druid."
The skeletons were all watching him now. Kygga transformed into an elk and rammed down an especially large skeleton. 3 skeletons sliced at him with shortswords, and he only managed to pairy 2 of them, getting struck in the chest by the other. He barely even flinched, as his scales worked as great natural armor.
The celebrating didn't last long. A burst like thunder peirced the ears of the villagers as the ground opened up in the center of town. In the center of the crater, A large humanoid with flowing black robes stood, holding a crystal in his hand. He yelled out, "I am Voru the necromancer, and you will give me your crown or watch you will watch your nation crumble!" He kneeled on the ground, both hands flat on the soil. Dark mist started to form around him. "I will fight you!" Kygga exclaimed, with a hint of fear in his voice. "Oh, don't fight me, fight him!" Voru replied, and there was a burst of cold as a wraith flew out from the ground. It flew towards Kygga, who transformed into an owl and began flying away. The wraith struck him out of the sky and started draining away his life.
A yell was heard nearby, and the wraith turned. An elderly dwarf was running towards the wraith. "You may be strong, but light will always beat shadow!" He shot a wave of fire at the wraith, who was weakened by light. The wraith turned into white mist, then reformed. The Dwarf cast a shield of fire around both him and Kygga.
Voru stared down the dwarf. "I know who you are, Flint, and you are nothing to match my power. You may ward away my spirits, but I have greater things coming that can match your fire!" He thrust his hand forward and Flint dropped to the ground, shivering from cold. Black frost formed on him, slowly freezing him in place. "This is devil frost! It cannot be melted by heat or magic." Voru explained with a dark gleam in his eye. Kygga shot a bolt from behind, piercing into his back, than ran up to Flint to help him up.
All of a sudden, something, Flint's eyes began to glow. The frost on him melted. Mist came out of his mouth as he spoke a prophecy in a slow, mystical voice saying, "When darkness reigns the dead will rise, A kingdom falls to evils eyes. The darkness spreads with strength untold, consuming all both young and old." His voice grew louder as he entered the second half, "Then heroes come answer the call, to make the necromancer fall. A barbarian bound to a curse, a rocky monk from lands diverse. A gnome whose memories are none, a fighter druid of the sun." When he finished, he collapsed onto the ground and did not get up.
"No... It can't be..." Voru whispered. "It was a prophesy!" One of the townspeople cried, causing everyone to cheer, "4 heroes will defeat him!" "The 'prophecy' you speak of says they will answer the call to fight me, it says nothing of me being defeated. Mark my words, people, I will hunt down all in this prophecy. I WILL KILL ALL THAT STAND IN MY WAY!!!" And with that, he faded away in the wind.
Kygga paced back and forth, wondering what to do. "Let's see..." He said to himself. "So, I think he gave the prophecy when I came over for a reason. I am a fighter druid multiclass, so I'm one of them." He thought to himself. "I've heard of a monk, one of those... stone people? I'll ask the librarian what they're called." Kygga walked over to the librarian, thinking of how he could get in. He needed to explain to the monk what was happening, and why he was needed. Maybe he could give a bribe. He could provide some precious stones... although he was made of stone, would that be offensive?
He arrived at the library and walked up to the assistant librarian. "Hey, um... do you know anything about the stone people?" He asked. "The Earth Genasi? I know little of them. I know they live in the mountains. Why do you ask?" He asked him. "Well, I need to find a monk who is an Earth Genasi," He told him. As they talked, someone slowly entered the room. He clenched his gray fists and prepared for a fight. He didn't know who he would brawl with, but he knew nobody can be trusted ever since it happened. "Excuse me," He told the assistant, "Do you know where I can find the books about curses?" Both Kygga and the Assistant stared at him. He was a deep gnome, rarely seen above the surface. Creatures from the deep were known not to be trusted with curses. "I, well, what do you want from that section?" The assistant asked suspiciously. The gnome replied, "Something about, maybe memory spells? Taking memories?"
Kygga chocked. A gnome who wants to know about memories? He had to be the gnome from the prophecy. "What is your name, sir?" Kygga asked him politely. He smirked then said "Huh. Wish I knew." He then walked away to another section of the library. Trying his best to please him, Kygga said, "I have a proposal for you, my good sir. I have a gold locket I can give you if you join me on a quest. We are fighting a necromancer, and we..." He thought of what to say. If he had no memory, he probably has trouble trusting people. He decided not to mention the prophecy. "We need someone... small, for part of the quest." He rolled his eyes, and I quickly added "We are going to a great mountain. You can have all my earnings. All the weapons, armor, all of it." He stopped walking, turned towards him, and asked "Are you sure?" "Yes, I am sure." "Then I will go if we see a wizard on the way." He said, staring at a high shelf his 1-foot body couldn't reach. "Can you get that one on memory?" He asked. Kygga grabbed the book and handed it to him.
"How did you lose your memory?" Kygga Asked. "Well, I gotta eat." He blurted, walking in the other direction. "I know a powerful necromancer that would love to steal memories." The gnome immediately stopped and walked towards Kygga. "I'll join your little quest if you can restore my memory. Let's start now." And he drew 2 shortswords (which were large for him). "I'm ready."
"Wait, nobody said anything about riding a dragon!" The gnome complained. "It's the fastest way of travel," Kygga replied, "And it's expensive, I spent 2 hours bribing the traveling company, so you can't be the one complaining." "Yes, fine. The flight will be quick?" He questioned. "Hm, should be like 30 minutes."
They climbed onto the dragon, and it began flying.
Meanwhile...
A specter flew into the room. "What now?" Voru asked. The specter flew over to Voru and touched his head, allowing him to read his memories. "So they are heading towards the mountains?" Voru asked, curious as to what they would be doing. "If it's the mountain, it must be the rock monk from the prophecy. An Earth Genasi monk. Send 3 wraiths and tell them to kill every monk they find." The specter nodded and then flew out of the room.
Voru continued with his work. He finished constructing his newest weapon: Skeleton Omega. The bones were made from frost giant's bones bathed in cursed obsidian, with sorcerer's blood mixed into it. The bones were connected by Amel-Tiron, a magic amethyst from another realm. Inside the skull was a golden orb forged by demons. Now, he only needed an especially powerful wraith to inhabit it, so Omega could have great powers both physical and ghostly.
"Vridon, come here please," Voru called out. Vridon flew into the room. "Vridon, you have been my most powerful and loyal servant. I would like you to become my Omega." Vridon came the closest a wraith could to happiness. He flew into the body, and Voru began binding him with magic. After an hour of spells, Vridon had become Voru's strongest weapon: The Omega.
"Omega," Voru called out, setting a brick on a table. "Break this brick." Omega grabbed the brick and crushed it in his hand. "Shatter that lantern up there." Since Omega was both a skeleton and wraith at the same time, he was able to fly up to the lantern and punch it to pieces.
"Omega, before I send you out, you need to remember this. You can do everything a wraith and skeleton can do. The bones I gave you are also enchanted, so you can use otherworldly magic such as black lightning, devil frost, drain consciousness, and more. Use your powers well. Now, go kill Kygga."
There were too many guarding the entrance. The Earth Genasi had thick armor of iron and platinum, with heafty spears to their side. "How are we going to get in?" Kygga asked. He decided, "I'm a gnome. I can just walk under their legs." And then he did just that.
One of the gaurds looked at Kygga and raised his spear. "What is the purpose of thine coming?" He asked in a firm voice. "I want to see a monk, for, um, training. Yah, I need a mentor." "Ye hath lied!" And he swung his spear, but I parryed with my glave. I turned into a boar and rammed though his legs. When I got through I turned back into my Dragonborn form. Kygga ran and hid behind a pillar. "The dragon boy is hiding. Shall we search?" "We shall find him and take him yonder to the highclass. They shall have him dealt with properly." The gnome came back next to Kygga. "I found a mage. I'm going to see if he can restore my memory." The gnome left as soon as he had come. Kygga ran over to some random Genasi and asked, "Do you know any monks here?" "Well, there's one over there."
Kygga walked over to a small stadium. He saw a monk chop a brick in half. The monk looked at him and introduced himself, "My name's Onyx. What are you hear for?" Kygga looked around the room. "So, um, there's this necromancer-" "Say no more. I'm not questing right now." "We need a mo-" "Look, I'm really busy, ok?" Kygga looked around, deciding how he could convince him. "I'll fight you, Onyx. You win, you do what you want. I win, you come." Onyx looked at Kygga curiously. "Well, okay, fine. But what is your quest?" "I'm fighting a very powerful necromancer. We have a prophecy that needs a druid fighter, me, a goblin with no memory, which we have, an Earth Genasi monk, and a cursed barbarian." Onyx smiled. "Well, lets start the brawl. 3, 2, 1, GO!"
Kygga shot a bolt from his crossbow, which barely cracked his iron armor. Onyx ran up to him and kicked him in the chest, knocking him down. Kygga sliced his Glaive into Onyx's stony face, cracking his nose. Onyx punched him to the ground. Kygga let out a blast of lightning, stunning Onyx. Kygga turned into a wolf and bit down hard on Onyx's leg. Onyx did a flip to throw him off, but Kygga turned into an owl mid-air and flew onto a pillar. Kygga thrust his glaive so hard it peirced through Onyx's armor. Kygga breathed out yet another fierce bolt of lightning at him, leaving him on the floor barely concous.
"Alright, good fight, I'll join you." Onyx said. And then, from somewhere behind, someone said, "But will you?"
