So kind of want to run a campaign either set in Eberron or a homebrew world that takes inspiration from Eberron but need some good novels to read to get in the spirit and get some inspiration.
I read one called The Night of Long Shadows that was a pretty good pulp fantasy detective story set in Sharn. I think there's more in the series too but I just happened to find that one at a bookstore
Years ago I read Keith Baker's "Dreaming Dark" trilogy and really enjoyed them! they really captured the setting very well, which is unsurprising since he was the main developer of it. It might be the most "Eberrony" of the series with a standard adventuring party, Dragonmark houses, mysteries about the Day of Mourning, etc. but I imagine that's intentional since I think it might have been the first trilogy, so it was meant to serve as an introduction to the setting in the fiction realm.
I also recently read Queen of Stone that Keith Baker also wrote and I really enjoyed it. It's a tighter focus on a less explored corner of the world with a spy/assassin who works for Breland on a mission into Droaam.
I just started reading The City of Towers the first book in the Dreaming Dark trilogy by Keith Baker for the exact same reasons, I am getting ready to start my parties adventure in Eberron in a few weeks and wanted to read some narratives set in the world to get the flavor. I am only a few chapters in and so far it pretty good, its already given me some insights on how some of the different elements i read about in the sourcebook come together that I hadn't realized before.

Any recommended reading?

Anything by John Le Carre.
