I am considering creating a barbarian and pick Wild Magic path. In their backstory their tribe was massacred by some magical monster. Barb survived, but got their magical scars. They also consumed the flesh of the creature and so both raw flesh and magical scars would in time (at level 3) grant the barbarian Wild Magic potential.
The question is - Is this backstory possible lore-wise in Forgotten Realms setting? What could that magical creature possibly be?
The first thing that comes to my mind would be something like a slaad. Red and blue slaad can infect their victims, which eventually turn said victims into slaadi. Wouldn’t be a far leap in logic to say that your barbarian absorbed some of that chaos energy but didn’t transform into a slaad.
Your DM has ultimate say as far as how permissible this would be for your campaign. However, this concept should certainly be feasible in a Forgotten Realms setting. Slaadi exist and could have been summoned or even appeared through some random gate/vortex.

Thank you for your reply! Slaadi would fit well, with their control over chaos, I believe.
