So, in my homebrew world: “Gia”, there are seven spirits, these spirits can give “gifts” to mortals that allow them to cast spells and the like. (Basically Visions from Genshin Impact, but slightly dumbed down)
There are 4 gifts:
The Gift of the Elements (corresponding to the “lesser” spirits)
The Gift of Light (corresponding to the sun spirit)
The Gift of Darkness (corresponding to the moon spirit)
The Gift of of The Creator (a “catch-all” gift given to those seen as “The Protagonist” or an “Avatar”)
HOWEVER… my main problem is: “How am I supposed to translate this into 5e?”
My original solution was to create subclasses for the sorcerer class, but I’m still fairly new to homebrew, and I want to know what you guys think I should do/what your solution’s might be before going ahead with this.
I'm actually home brewing a world for our next campaign that uses the 8 elements and I'm running it using feats essentially. At character creation and then every 3-4 levels the PCs will get a new bonus feat that represents their growing connection to their element. That way the player can play any class and still get the benefits.
