This is the chronicled adventures of one of my D&D games in which I am a player. this thread will be updated every week with each new session
the Barbed Fields mountains loomed over the outpost of Bazzoxan, as the afternoon sun set behind the rust-red peaks. Four adventurers approached the city, each weary from long travels. Among them was Adrex, a dragonborn knight invested with holy power, who wielded his war-hammer in the name of Melora. following closely behind was Merrem, a wizard from the human empire of Dwendal, who was well-versed in the ways of time magic. next to him was Lucifer, a beatifully mysterious figure, adorned in the clothes of a bard. despite their regal appearance, something dark flickered within them. bringing up the rear was Enfys "Tam-A-Line" Anne'lace, a devotee of the nature gods who could change her form at will, and was accompanied by her pet faerie dragon Jaromir. these four adventueres had seen long days on the road, and were ready for rest. as they approached the city, a guard called out form the wall
"who goes there? be you friend or foe?" the dark elf sentry inquired.
"we be friends. though not to baby-eaters such as yourself." the wizard said with disdain for the dark elf, for the Dwendalian empire was at war wit the Kryn Dynasty of Drow.
"oh shut up will you?" Lucifer snapped, tired of the wizards constant belittling and racism. turning to the guard, they added. "what he means is we would be delighted to gain entry to your city and have a rest from our long travels."
"very well" the guard huffed, obviously disdainful of the rude wizard. the guard eyed Merrem as the group walked by, wandering whether it was a good idea to let such a distasteful individual into the city, and one who seemed to be a skilled spellcaster as well. the Group continued on through the main road, all around them were people who looked ragged and tired, as if just being in the vicinity of the city sucked the life out of you.
"this place is so sad" Tam-A-Line lamented, thinking of all the ways a few flowers could help these poor people. "we should help"
"we have a quest to complete, we don't have time to help them" Lucifer said, saddened by it. but their quest was too important. "I wish we could but... oh, what's that?" a shrieking sounded from around a corner, as the sound of burbling laughs and crazed screams heralded the approach of five horrible beings. fleshy blobs dotted with countless babbling mouths and ever swiveling eyeballs that looked hungrily for its next meal. a woman tried to run, but was overtaken by the mass of flesh, her body subsuming into the creature as it grew in size. frenzied shouts ensued from the bystanders, as they ran to alert the guard. the adventurers drew their weapons, ready to face the beasts. Lucifer rushed forward, blade in hand, as they leaped up into the air. wings of shadow sprouted from their back and dark fire encircled them. their now black eyes burned with the hatred of the void. the fleshy beasts, known as gibbering mouthers quavered in fear, their small brains unsure whether it was a good idea to attack Lucifer. drawn by the noise, a figure stepped out of the shadows. a hulking man dressed in furs, their skin like stones. a goliath. those invested with the blood of the mighty stone giants. sighing, he drew his massive hammer and runs to the fray. "Who are you?" Adrex asked,
"I'm here to help." the goliath replied simply, in a deep, gravelly voice. the Dragonborn nodded, then started invoking the power of Melora, as the power of the justice god filled him, the goliath, and Jaromir the faerie dragon. the knight rushed forward,. interposing himself between the mouthers and some cowering bystanders. two drow guards rush into the fray, trying to help. The mouthers turn, and with a hungry stare, sink their fangs into the guards. annoyed by the fact that mouthers returned to the city after last time, the goliaht roars and rushes forward flanking a mouther as their heavy strikes come down, taking chunks out of the mouthers. unnerved by raging goliath, Merrem takes a step away, then begings to chant, summoning the surging arcane power of the storm, as a bolt of lightning flashes out, hitting three of the mouthers, electrocuting their bodies, as the smell of charred flesh wafts from the battle scene. Tam-A-Line, in the form of a green tiefling wearing owl-eyed goggles, invokes the power of Avandra the change bringer, as an arrow of blinding light shoots out from her bow, causing the mouther to be wreathed in golden light, as Jaromir swooped low, their fangs tearing into the mouther which had been flattened by the goliath, as the mouther loses cohesion and melts into an acidic flesh puddle with eyes and teeth. the mouthers howled and shrieked at the loss of their comrade. the noise maddening, Lucifer could bear it no more. overcome with madness, they ran, unaware of the brick wall in front of their face. the battle raged on as the mouthers continued their assault despite their dwindling numbers, until the last one was vanquished.
