In the darkest corner, in the dankest bar, of the broken down village of Crofthaven, four mercenaries sat around a table. Cheap bear and dubious stew littered the tabletop, and between them, a map. "What is is"? asked Kynen, the scrawniest of the four. "Map to a dragons lair", replied Tracman, the leader of the group, "got it off a young mage, he's no longer around to complain about it, of course". "You think we can take a dragon"? asked Kynen. "We won't need to", raplied Tracman, dragons already been killed. its treasure is there to take. The 2 bruisers, Kley and Nats, both caked with dirt, blood and oil, shared a grin. "So easy pickings", they said together. "Yeah, but I heard them dragons trap their homes, so we need a patsy", went on Tracman. "Any candidates"? asked Kynen. "Yep", answered Tracman, "half a mile past the edge of town, there is a cottage. there lives a death knight and a witch. husband and wife apparently" Tracman smiled with a grin as he saw the looks of alarm on the faces of his three comrades. "Now if I know anything, the witch has a spell on the death knight. He's probably her slave. So, you three kill the witch, the death knight is freed, and he helps us with the dragons treasure" Tracman almost laughed " Who knows, we may even let him leave with his life. But probably not". And with that, the four companions drank their drinks, and finished their meal, and ordered more drinks. Tomorrow was going to be a rich day.
Guyrix and Kateros were dancing together, while a small pack of demon imps failed to play a variety of musical instruments, when the knock came on the door. Guy sighed. "Your turn Kate". "Alright", replied Kateros, "but this better be good". Guyrix sat in his favorite chair, he was of average if somewhat athletic build, though his skin was pale, even for a human, as if he had never seen the sun. He let out a lascivious whistle as his void-elf wife exited the living room. Her skin was a deep brown, her hair black and long. She heard the whistle and giggled, and in reply, wiggled her behind slightly as she left the room. He heard the front door open, then muffled voices, and then finally, one man walked into the living room alone. Guyrix did not even stand. "And you are"? "Tracman", answered the uncouth and unkempt man as he sat himself on the low table in the middle of the room, "and I just freed you". "Oh really"? "Yeah, from your witch wife, her spell should be breaking now", Tracman pulled the map from his pocket, "and in return, I got a rich job for a death knight like you". Guyrix learned forward in his chair. "You really are a dumb bastard, aintcha"? "What"? asked Tracman in surprise. "I'm the witch, my wife is the death knight". Before the mercenary could react, Guyrix lifted one hand and clicked his fingers. Instantly, Tracmans head was engulfed with a fiery green conflagration, it exploded, and blood, brains, and bone fragments sprayed out over the back of the room. Guyrix waved his hand, dismissing the demon imp orchestra as his beautiful wife returned. "You good dear"? he asked. "Are you joking"? answered Kateros "those three where barely even street thugs, they had no skill. A single howling blast killed them all".
Guyrix picked the map from the hand of the corpse Tracman, as it finally began to topple over. Kateros sat on the arm of his chair and placed an arm on his shoulders, as he unfolded the map. "Dragons lair, dragons hoard", Kate said. "Yeah", said Guy, "shall we call it date night"? "No way"! exlaimed Kateros, "You promised me a fancy restaurant". "Okay", said Guyrix, laughing, "fancy restaurant for the main course, and dragons lair for pudding".
I just want to point out that a horde could be like 20.000 horsemen - whereas a hoard is something hoarded, something you gather, protect, hide away, like treasure. I'm not ruling out that this could be a dragon's horde, but a hoard sounds more traditional.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
When faced with an issue, most people would rather be negative than find a solution.
