Im playing a Scourge Aasimar Oath of Vengeance Paladin who serves Tyr in a Tomb of Annihilation campaign and I was thinking it would be really cool to have some Celestial words and phrases he could say as he’s casting a spell or smiting an enemy. The problem is I couldn’t really find a good online Celestial dictionary to use so I decided to create my own. I’ve never created a language or dictionary before and to be honest the inner mechanics of language kind of confuse me so I figured I’d let you all look at it and see what you thought of it. The inspiration for the language was mainly Elvish with a little bit of Latin sounding parts. Any advice, tips or suggestions are welcome and appreciated thanks!
Did something similar with my Cambion Illrigger character, expect using Infernal. However, I cheated and simply pulled up a Klingon dictionary. You could use Enochian to do the same for Celestial, or at least to pad out what you already have
I just use Latin for Celestial. Sylvan is French. Dwarves speak either Spanish or Arabic (depending on their origin). Gnomes speak Australian. Abyssal is Polish. Orcish is Lithuanian. Infernal is a mix of Czech and Slovak. Halflings speak either Fargo-midwestern or South Boston (depending on their origin). Goblinoid is Bronx. Dragonborn is a mix of Greek, Babylonian, and Sumerian. Shadowfellian is Romani. Tabaxi is either ancient Egyptian or Japanese (depending on their origin). Giant is a mix of Germanic dialects. Firbolgs speak Berkshire ("Pepperidge Fahms remembahs.")
