Born and raised by humans in the town of Waterdeep, Adrian was never accepted in the world for his tiefling background - not in professional circles, at least. He worked with a band of thieves and pirates for some time, even falling in love with Nelaia, a fellow tiefling on the crew. He thought he had finally found his people... but then everything went wrong. One night, the group set out to steal a legendary suit of armor from an ancient temple of Demogorgon, a godlike being of pure chaos. Everything went perfectly, but they didn't realize that the armor had been magically trapped until it was too late. An army of undead swarmed from the center of the temple and Adrian's crewmates fled, leaving him behind. He was saved by a legendary paladin named Redclay, who took him in as an apprentice until he was ready to take on evil in the world. They grew from master and apprentice into friends, but once again, disaster struck. Adrian's mentor was fatally wounded, more than a simple spell could heal. Her last words to her student were: "Be the light." Adrian has since dedicated to following in his mentor's footsteps and becoming a champion for justice and equality.
With a backstory this deep, I like to make npc interactions personal sometimes just to make it fun. For example, one time I was playing a drow fighter, and was one on oneing a goblin boss, and made it so that I had met him before. “Ah, so we meet again, goblin. You defeated me once at the mines of Khaldror, but now your time has come!” There was no mines of Khaldror, and we had never met, but I kinda twisted it into my backstory that I had once fought him.
Kinda off topic, but I think that would be fun if your DM would allow.

Super Cool.
