Hey DnDBeyond, this is my very first posting to your forums (at least I think so, I can't remember posting any other time), so if this question of my belongs anywhere else, please tell me and I'll happily move it! With that out of the way, here's my question.
In all the Eberron info I've been able to find, it seems that all The Inspired are Humans. Is that true, or can the Quori inhabit the minds of other humanoids who are able to sleep/dream? If there's no actual info regarding this but is the general consensus is that no other races can be Inspired with a malevolent Quori from Dal Quor? Or would it possible for there to be any number of different Inspired, so long as they are capable of both sleeping and dreaming?
Could there be a Dwarf, Halfling, Lizardfolk, Aarakocra, Half-Orc, etc, etc, etc, PC/NPC Inspired? Or are The Inspired only Humans?
Thank you so much! I hope you and your family are all staying safe and healthy!
Hey, a real short awnser but yeah as far as I know all the Inspired are humans. They are basically bred to be empty vessels for the quori to posses.
I recently started listening to Manifest Zone podcast, on which Keith Baker himself is also a host. They talk about all things Eberron and it really is a huuuuuge source of information. Highly recommend checking it out. They also have an episode on the Dreaming Dark and how to use them in your campaign.
The Inspired are to humans what labradors are to dogs; a race bred to have certain desirable traits (in this case, being easy to possess while also having physical features the Quori like). Theoretically, any human can be possessed (the original Kalashtar were ordinary humans, after all). It's just harder if the host isn't willing or weak to possession like Inspired are
I would personally say that yes, any species can be Inspired as long as they are bred for it. Humans are the most convenient due to shorter lifespan, since breeding an Inspired elf could take millenia.
