Hypothetically, what would the Forgotten Realms look like, if Karsus had destroyed the Phaerimm, and then ascended to divine status, becoming the new God of magic?
Can't speak to whether or not he defeated the Phaerimm but he did become the new god of magic... that's why the Forgotten Realms are the way they are now, Karsus succeeded.
At least for a brief moment.
That's true to a point, but I meant had succeeded without all the ill effects, as in, things worked out the way he had planned.
I am curious, because I intend on creating an NPC who is the reincarnation of Karsus and is intent on fixing his mistake and undoing the harm that he has caused, but who hasn't really learned from his mistakes either.
He still believes that magic can solve all his problems.

A caffeinated nerd who has played TTRPGs or a number of years and is very much a fantasy adventure geek.
