I've always been annoyed that the newer published player races don't have definite height & weight ranges. So I'm making my own height ranges. Going off the PH rule that small races are 2-4 feet tall & that medium races are 4-8 feet tall. This will only cover heights for adults. I won't cover races that had described height ranges in their legacy versions & won't do weight ranges since I have no clue how to calculate that stuff.
Autognomes: 2-4 feet tall. Ultimately depends on what their intended purpose was that decides their size.
Fairies: 2 feet to just under 3 feet tall (like 2'11" & below). A tad shorter than kobolds in most cases (which are 2-3 feet tall according to Volo's)
Giff: 6¾-7¾ feet tall. Shorter than Loxodon (7-8 ft) but still very big.
Githyanki & Githzerai: 5'8" to 6'11". Usually either average human height or much taller than humans.
Hazodee: Depends on the type of primate that is most similar to the specific Hazodee since they can be either small or medium. To calculate your height, take your desired primate's height range or average height standing & add 2 feet to the min & max heights in the range or their average height standing. For instance, the average bonobo ape is about 3'9". Add 2 feet & you get a height of 5'9" for the Bonobo Hazodee. Then you can further specify if you want them shorter or taller. The height cap is 8 feet.
Harengon: Those on the small side tend to be anywhere from 3½ feet tall to just under 4 feet & those on the medium side tend to be anywhere from 4 feet tall to just under 5½ feet.
Kender: About the same as gnomes (3-4 feet).
Lizardfolk: Over 5½ feet to 6½ feet.
Owlin: Small Owlin range from 3-4 feet tall & medium Owlin range from 4 feet to 6½ feet.
Plasmoids: They can theoretically be any size, though almost all plasmoids don't go under 2 feet if they're small or over 8 feet if they're on the bigger side of medium for practical reasons. Average plasmoids can be about the size of humans or other races of similar height. Plasmoids who do work that requires them to be more compact can range from as small as fairies & kobolds to just short enough to be compared to a gnome or goblin. Plasmoids on the other end of the spectrum, usually for jobs that require strength or heavy manual labor, can be as tall as firbolgs & loxodon at maximum or as tall as a taller than average humanoid at minimum.
Tabaxi: 5 feet to a little over 6'5". Usually depends if they're more like a house cat or a wild cat with the former being on the lower end & the latter being on the higher end.
Thri-Kreen: Small Thri-Kreen range from 2-4 feet tall. Medium Thri-Kreen range from 4 feet to 6'5".
And there we go! Please tell me your thoughts & maybe suggest some weight ranges(?)
I mainly made this just to satisfy my own questions about the specifics of newer published races since they're lacking in that department. Hopefully with the Worlds & Realms book on the horizon we can get some answers to these questions.
Until then, feel free to use this for your own characters :)
