I a completely new player to D&D. I have created my first character an air Genasi sorcerer known as Cipher I have some ideas for background but feel that its lacking. Anyone who is more experienced willing to help?? Can you look at my character in my profile and tell me what you think.
While I can't see the character (I think you have it set to private), I'd encourage you to start with minimal background and figure it out as you go! Don't tie yourself down, just go with something as simple as "I was exiled from my city and need to prove my worth to return" or "I grew up on the streets pickpocketing until I realized I could get more gold from dungeons" or even "I was a farmer until, out of sheer boredom, I decided to go adventuring." Focus on your personality first and just have fun roleplaying—you can fill in the background when it's important.
You should swap wisdom and charisma. Charisma is sorcerers main ability. And it says you have 3 hit points. You should have 8. What background do you have? I would say outlander or hermit. That makes sense for a sorcerer, maybe soldier, it would be cool if you were a soldier, using your spells in battle. Makes sense as you have draconic bloodline.

I'd agree with Naivara, particularly if this is your first game, it's easier to figure out things if you are not to tied down to a backstory. Depending on how much you like the role-playing aspect , it's can be easier to figure out what kind of personality your character has and see how they would interact with the world from there. That can itself create a story to work with.
You character is hotheaded- they got into a fight back home and have been exiled out into the world to make amends
Your character is kind and caring- they have a sick sibling that they need to go and find a cure for
Your character is confident and cool- comes from a noble family and is looking to prove themselves
Your character is sneaky and deceptive- They grew up on the streets, learnt gifting from an old dock hand and have been informally adopted by the local brothel.
Your character is curious and fun loving- living the student life, try everything because why not and their parent kicked them out the house.
Just some ideas. I usually start with personality and reading up on the background of the race I've chosen and go from there. Hope that's of some help.

Thanks!
Can you make the character public, i can't see it so it might be private or i am forgetting a menu.

I have set the character to public though I also provided a link so please let me know if its alright.
You need high charisma as a sorcerer, so swap wisdom and charisma. Or else you're a pretty bad sorcerer.

And also yes- your HP should be 8 not 3
I am a square. Watch me equilateral.
9, not 8. Draconic bloodline feature, adds one hp when you become sorcerer and every lvl after.
