My favorite encounter will always be this. The players come across the young boy who is tugging on a string that leads up to a kite stuck in a tree. He tugs furiously with all his might and suddenly the strings snaps. He falls to the ground then sits up with tears streaming down his face. The players of course climb the tree to get the child his kite. As they get about halfway up the kid calls out to them "Be careful, that's the kite eating tree!" As he says this the tree begins to shift and move, suddenly it's alive (Awakened Tree) and it's not happy it's being climbed.
I love this because they are in the tree as combat starts. And the visual is quite hilarious. It did make movement and combat a bit tricky but we managed.
Was this inspired by Charlie Brown (or am I just showing my age)?

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.

It absolutely was. I don't know if my players even got the reference but they loved it anyway. I'm glad somebody got it.
