So, long story short, my character is a teacher and her student got kidnapped by the dragon cult. She also got kidnapped a little by the dragon cult and they told her to retrieve a magic bowl for them to get them to release her student.
I am looking for a way to destroy that bowl before they manage to get their hands on it, and try to get the location of the student by interrogation. Does anyone know how I might destroy this bowl?

As far as I know, it's made of black crystal and both dragons and giants want it. I don't know anything else.
1) Try to identify it with a short rest. Barring a house rule stopping you (which is very plausible - there's nothing wrong with a magic item that's magically warded against being identified), you'll find out if it's a magic bowl.
2) Hit it with Detect Magic if you're in a hurry or don't want to spend the rest - that'll get you some additional information.
3) Try hitting it with a sledgehammer or maul. Many crystals are quite fragile, although this one sounds likely magical to me.
4) You can also try pouring acid on it, and if your local alchemist is making soap, a base. From the same source you can buy and apply alchemist's fire.
5) After this things get more expensive, but if you can hire a spellcaster to cast the second level spell Shatter on the bowl for you, it's quite good against anything crystalline. Other spells may also help you, even if they cost more - e.g. the 6th level Disintegrate spell can't hurt magic items but automatically destroys non-magic ones. That's why you should try other steps first, so you know more. If you have a magic bowl, Dispel Magic may help, but your best bet is hiring the spellcaster in question to answer the same question you've asked us. The NPC will have access to GM-driven plot powers that may tell you more.
6) If all else fails, you can try the old trick of dropping it in a volcano, or you can hire a spellcaster to quietly stick the bowl on another plane of existence. If you know anyone with powerful allies, they may be able to help - e.g. a variety of Warlocks might have a patron interested in a free magic bowl.

So you're poor? Definitely start with identifying it, and ask your party members for help. Bludgeoning damage is easy to deal - for example, you can literally try stomping on the bowl, and that's free.

Identify requires a pearl worth 50 gold. I have 8 gold
Have you tried asking your DM if you can make an arcana check to study the bowl and see what you can learn? Or taking it to whoever trained you? Or a local sage?
This seems like your DM is setting up some role play opportunities. Take them.
It's also worth just talking to your DM about this - it's a collaborative story telling experience, not DM vs Players. To get the most out of the game, try not to hide too much from the DM - if they don't know you want to break it and save the student, they won't have planned for any of it and so will not have a good adventure ready for you to rescue them - you might end up fighting some cultists and finding your student in an undecorated room in a nondescript house, when you could have been storming a castle with elaborate infiltration options and several rooms to explore, with loot and all sorts. IF they DM is expecting you to give them the bowl and then your student be returned, where the student was kept is irrelevant to their plans and they won't have given it any detail.
To identify the bowl, a short rest to identify would be your simplest option. To see how to break it - try to break it! smash it with rocks, hit it with a mace, stomp on it, chuck it in a bonfire - anything you feel should break the bowl.
It's worth noting as well that, if the DM doesn't know you want to break it and as such hasn't planned for it breaking, they are much more likely to say "nothing you tries works, it's an indestructible bowl".

identify the spell is only faster than a short rest identify - it has no other benefits. You can short rest identify for free.
