I'm in a campaign that we're planning to play through to level 14 and I've reached level 5 as a Fiend Warlock. I was wondering whether to continue in this class or to multiclass into sorcerer for probably three levels, gaining me more low level spell slots but most likely meaning I wouldn't reach some of the higher level fiendlock features such as Hurl Through Hell or the 7th level Mystic Arcanum. Advice very much appreciated.
Ironically, my character reached level 5 as a Fiend Warlock recently. For level 6 I took a level of Bard. Same primary stat, gained a little ritual casting, access to Healing Word (which you can do and EB the same turn!), and the inspiration dice. To me, I like the level dip to get a couple level one slots to play with, and the flavor benefits. You are at the right level to think about dipping a level.
How have you found your class to fit or support your character concept or the playstyle you want? Are you having fun with the class and how it plays? If you look ahead in the progression of the class features is there anything that sticks out and makes you go "Well, I'm never going to use that ability?"

Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua ferita ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
My advice is: Unless you really want to multiclass, don't. The higher level features of classes, especially spells, are too much fun to lose. The exception is if you are multiclassing for narrative reasons.

You probably wouldn't use the Sorcerer spell slots - you'd most likely consume them for sorcery points to metamagic your Warlock spells. What Sorcerer subclass are you considering, and what's your Pact Boon?

This is why I did a one level dip into Bard. Sorcerer sounds like an awesome multi for Warlock, but once you do that you really need to take three levels to get the build online. You also are kinda building the Warlock at level one knowing you are going this route. A Bard dip can be a one level investment, to scoop some useful features without giving up the farm on the Warlock stuff.
Talk with your DM. Ask about game power levels, and expectations. As long as your DM is great, you can literally take any class combo and have fun. Yes... some combos can churn our more damage each round than others, but every game is different. D&D is about having fun, not being 'the best' (for most anyways). That said...
Stat synergies are something to look out for, either primary or secondary. Decide are you looking to DPS, to be frontline distraction, heals, or be versatile. Then, pursue your dream!

Sorlocks are a good multiclass build, but you need at least a 2-3 level dip. I don't recommend it unless you REALLY want to.
