I want to play with another friend as brothers and I have some combos in mind but do you guys have any ideas in mind? I don't have to be a fighter or I can be a eldritch knight
I like the idea of a pair of brothers as an Arcane Trickster and an Eldritch Knight... two martial classes who have studied enough magic to have a solid knowledge of spells, but still clearly primarily trained for combat. Plus you can synergize with your spell selections... An Arcane Trickster and an Eldritch Knight who work together and plan out their spell selections with each other can cover the utility of a single full caster for the majority of situations.
An Armorer using Inflitrator armor would be able to sneak with the Arcane Trickster. Plus a little more magic including healing. Infusions like Gloves of Thievery can make the Trickster better too.
You could also try Arcane Trickster and Bladesinger - this could result in some amazing utility and damage combos - and it would make sense if they were brothers; one more martial, the other more of a spellcaster. Since will have high dex, you can sneak around, but still play them semi-frontline (bladesinger gets crazy high AC with bladesong
For a Fighter subclass, Rune Knight is pretty strong, flavorful but not "spellcasting" per say. It has some pretty neat and interesting options though. However, it's hard to say what fits your concept without more info. Rangers, Battle Smith Artificers, Bladesingers and many other classes have strong martial presence while still having spellcasting potential or spell-like abilities such as the previously mentioned Rune Knight, Eldritch Knight or Echo Knight.
Have the arcane trickster get the sentinel feat. Have the fighter be a cavalier. Have them fight side by side in melee. Creature attacks the fighter, rogue gets a reaction attack fir sneak damage. Creature attacks the rogue, it likely has disadvantage against the rogue and misses. If it hits, the fighter gets a strong bonus action attack which benefits from bonus damage and advantage. Interception fighting style works well as it can reduce damage on the rogue which can be further reduced by the rogues uncanny dodge feature.
these reactions are mutually exclusive, which drastically increases the likelihood you’ll be using them as they cover each other incredibly well. With these features the rogue and the fighter are both mire offensive and defensive together than they would otherwise be alone.
