Well; for one: Blood hunter is (even more than most classes) strongly effected by the subclass you choose; one literally adds on the Warlock pact magic mechanic, others likewise are suited to different styles of play. This of course depends upon what sort of character you want to make/play.
Second: at low levels, you're going to want a good Constitution stat: your core mechanics will often require taking from your own health pool, and at low levels, that might not be that much, especially if ou roll your HP, so every bit counts.

First I would take a GM's setting/adventure into account for race, home rules and other things into account.
IN general if you have the stats, I like to multiclass the following Blood Hunter-Lycan(17 or 14) with Monk-Kensei (3 or 6) and the option of trading 3 levels of Monk for Wizard-Bladesinger, BH-Mutant 14 and Wizard-Bladesinger-6 (Because you get spells, Bladesinging and ability to trade 1 attack for a cantrip at Wz 6th) also BH-any 14 Ranger-Gloomstalker+druidic warrior-6 (or again sub 3 levels of Wz-Bladesinger for 3 Ranger levels). But you could also easily do a level or two in cleric or fighter to add abilities.
If you have very good stats you might do a Warlock/Sorcerer/BH-Profain Soul.
In general again I look for backgrounds that fit the GM approval but also fill holes in my PC or that the group needs.
Lately I like Witherbloom Student + BH-Mutant (14)+Wiz-Bladesinger(6) as a strong PC that has a lot of things going for the PC (if the stats are there) but can also see some other multiclassing options depending on need. ie 3 levels of Artifacer-Battle Smith (to get infusions+ spell stat to magic weapons ability+ smith tools and thieves tools) or starting with 1+ level of rogue (for skills and expertise + thieves tools+ other abilities) to any build swapping out a level for a class that I do not mind losing abilities.
No matter what I would use the PC building tool to build out you PC and see how it would look with the various options might you pick. It also helps if you know what others in your group are playing to make sure you have all of the bases covered (ie everyone is playing a Wizard or Sorc) and what options your GM allows in the game.
I should have asked what type of PC do you like to play? Pure fighter type? Stealth? Cleric? Wizard? Ranger? etc And what do you expect your PC to be able or want them to do in the group?
I think your race question is wide open to what you want or what the setting allows. The one race that jumps out at me as being a problem is Warforged but then again I think you could do some shoehorning and make it work. I like Aereni Elves, Human mark of Making and the Dhampier right now but I know other like Human Variant for the feat option. But again I think the stats you roll or have to work with dictate a lot on what options you can pick. For example if I roll a lot of high stats I may do a BH-PS/Sorc/Warlock-Hexblade as I have the stats to do so but if I roll poorly then I might just do Blood Hunter-Mutant and no multi-classing.

Never built or played one and was wondering if there aer any good race, multiclass, feat, and other combinations.
Tips for building one, things to pay attention for, etc.
I cannot exceed lv 6 so keep that in mind.
Appreciate the help.
