So, I'm just about to build my Vuman, Heavy Armor Twilight Cleric and am thinking what feat to get.
Currently, I'm thinking between Warcaster, which is what a lot of Clerics grab first, Or Strixhaven Initiate - Prismari, so I can have an attack cantrip and Shield spell. This is the feat, not the background, which is fine for the DM.
I want to hear opinions on what would be the better choice between the two. I'm even conflicted about taking both, one at 4th level, but that would make my Wisdom 16 till level 8.
Clerics can start with a damaging cantrip anyway, is there a reason you think you need a cantrip that requires an attack roll instead of a saving throw?
If you are going to be a melee cleric, then Warcaster will help you maintain your spells, which you are likely to be using in combat (Bless, Protection from Evil and Good).
I'd go with the Strixhaven Initiate feat. Warcaster is nice for making concentration checks, but taking Shield helps you to avoid taking damage in the first place, thus preventing the need for a concentration check in the first place. Plus it's nice to use this as a way to customize your character... Warcaster is the same basic feat, functionally, for all classes and casters who take it, but taking a feat that lets you pick out specific spells helps you to flavor the kind of caster you are. Maybe there's a reason why your Cleric has a spell like Firebolt in their arsenal, or what part of their personality has them learning a spell like shield... or even what form the shield takes. Are you going for a fire-themed character? You can flavor it as a burst of ethereal flame that erupts out of your holy symbol to protect you.
An alternative to Warcaster for help maintaining concentration would be Resilient - CON. Its not a flashy choice but its a solid if unspectacular pick.
Telekinetic. It weaponize a your bonus action when used with spirit guardians in such a way that it allows you the flexibility to not prepare spiritual weapon. It saves those spell slots, is as effective since it’s damage scales up with upcasting spirit guardians, and can be used the same turn you cast Spirit guardians.
its a half feat too, so you could start with an additional modifier somewhere in your build.
saving slots all throughout the day and freeing up a preparation is awesome.
