Hi I’m looking for synergies/combos between my party of three characters. Our party is level five and consists of a Tempest Domain Cleric, Hunter Colossus Slayer Ranger and a Lore Bard.
The BBEG has the ability to fly, is a master of illusion magic, and hands out fireballs like Oprah hands out cars. We ended our last session with him flying about 60ft in the air above a burning building. Initiative has been rolled.
Any suggestions are appreciated thank you for reading the post.
BBEG spell casters are tough as long as they are casting spells. So stop them from casting if you can. Your Lore Bard should plan to counterspell every round. If either your Bard or Cleric have silence, try that, possibly repeatedly until it sticks.
Although Twilight Cleric encourages bunching up, I’d take a different approach and spread out. You don’t want all three of you caught in the same Fireball or other AOE.
Finally, if you can break the Sorcerer’s concentration or knock them prone, you’ll cause them to fall. That’s a potentially decent chunk of damage on top of whatever you did to cause the fall.

Unfortunately, lore bards don't get Counterspell until level 6 magical secrets, so this won't work.
Silence is cast on a point (not on an enemy) and does not move. Very easy for the evil sorcerer to fly 10 feet and be out of the Silence range.
The group has a Tempest Cleric, not a Twilight Cleric.
If the Evil Sorcerer is using the Fly spell, he won't fall if knocked prone. You'll have to break his concentration.

I missed the low level part in title from OP. That is limiting. You can possibly hold action on Silence to target the Sorcerer that way, but it will only work for a round until they get out. And that does assume your DM lets you cast your held action when the Sorcerer starts casting, not afterwards.
Otherwise, you’ll still benefit from spreading out and trying to break the Sorcerer’s concentration. If the Bard can inspire the Ranger and Cleric before they get too far away, you’ll have a very good chance the Ranger will hit repeatedly (although Mirror Image can foil that).
Unless this flying is due to wings, you can pick the effect to dispell and as fly is a 3rd level spell if SHOULD just eliminate the effect (of if a device briefly shut it down). BBEG falls and you now have a prone caster who you should be able to quickly dispatch.

I think dispel magic dispels all magic affecting said target. You dont have to pick and choose. Which in this case is just fly, but still useful to know.

Dispel Magic dispels all spells affecting said target (assuming the spells are 3rd level or lower).
If he’s flying from wings, the tempest cleric can knock him prone (or at least try to) with a sleet storm, which is a domain spell. Then the sorcerer takes 6d6 falling damage, and everyone else gets to beat on him on the ground.
Hold Person is only a second level spell with a range of 60 feet. Cleric or bard should be able to cast. This will be devastating to a Sorcerer, assuming he is a humanoid. WIS save is probably not very good for a sorcerer. He will fall to ground taking fall damage, still be paralyzed for at least a round, and your party will demolish him.
If Hold Person doesn't work, bard uses cutting words, and ranger peppers with arrows until it loses concentration. Any spells that aren't cha saves are probably going to hurt the sorcerer. If there is someway the ranger can climb up near the sorcerer, cast silence on the ranger and jump at him and pray.

Dispel magic.

OP here. I believe he is using his wings from his draconic sorcerer ability. I was thinking the ranger might be able to use ensnaring strike.
