To start, I've played a few small campaigns, with two different characters I've had help making, with a close friend. The problem is they are quite busy and it's been a a while since we last played, since they are working on a larger campaign for us. The problem I have is, I have anxiety, and ADHD, and that makes it very difficult to try and meet random people, without panicking. I would like to add I am trying to work on that, but I would love to join a game, because I've absolutely fallen in love with dnd, and would love to continue playing it.
DDB has a forum for players/DMs looking groups. I personally can't speak for the effectiveness of that forum but it seems like a good place to start. Try reaching out to other friends or maybe your family to see if they'd be willing to play with you. Whatever you do, don't give up looking, you'll find a group eventually.
hey, fellow social introvert here, if ur looking for practice to gain experience, you can try play-by-post games since there is no actual interaction, or if thats not your cup-o-tea, try dndbeyond server on discord, most games dont require video, just audio which makes it alot easier. dont worry about trying to be sociable in first sessions, it will come to you in time as you get to know the players you play with, if your anything like me or the other anti-socials i have encountered, you will find another player that riffs well with your char and start up your relationship. gl and happy adventuring.

Keep your friends close, and enemies closer.
