I am contemplating trying to make a character with the most unexpected size-changing I can think of. Currently I have Rune Knight at level 3 as a given, for Giants Might. I am now working out the interesting interactions from there.
Currently, I am considering the possibility of:
1: Become a druid, wildshape into something small or tiny 2: Use Giants Might to become Large (not a spell, it's a class ability)
But I can't find anything decent that's worth making large!
I had previously made a character who was a Goblin Rune Knight with Druidic Warrior for Shillelegh and a ranger for Hunters mark, and he could output a single devastating hit with the right wind-up, but I am after something else now!
Consider picking a class that lets you learn Enlarge/Reduce, because you could use your Rune Knight ability to become Large, and then Enlarge yourself to become Huge, which means you could literally grapple Gargantuan creatures, like the Tarasque. I had a friend who played a Fairy Rune Knight, to do this without multiclassing, because the Fairy can cast Enlarge/Reduce as a racial ability.
Most interesting would be a Small sized creature Rune Knight-Open Hand Monk. If you are Small, you can enter space of a Large or bigger creature, then use Open Hand technique to "crack their nuts" (so to speak) and send them flying upward 15 feet, then have them also take 1d6 falling damage. When they are prone from the fall, make yourself bigger and grapple them.

Oooh I like it! Halfling + Crusher Feat + Rune Knight = literal ball-crusher.

Duergar has enlarge reduce built-in as a racial feature.
