Heyooo, so I've had this character concept that was a Sanguine Angel from Pathfinder 1e, but due to circumstances never actually got to play them.
In the near future, my friend and I will be co-DMing a 5e campaign together, and I wanted to try and make the Sanguine Angel as close as I can with 5e stuffs, but it's a little hard when I am Dumb of Donkey.
My friend said a mixture between fighter/warlock but I wanted to hear more community voices/input on this.
Winged Tiefling + Conquest Paladin + Longsword + Shield + Shield Master feat, optional: Multiclass into Zealot Barbarian or Efreeti Genie Warlock optional: if you prefer a more angelic character use Protector Aasimar instead of Winged Tiefling
For the prestige class any martial class as base could work (since it gets rage, favored enemy and other features).
Off course as everyone has pointed out paladin makes the best fit in mechanics and fluff mostly conquest (aura of fear) or vengeance (the most offensive minded) and all paladins are inmune to frightened by 10th.
You could do full paladin and not be wrong but many multiclases can fit.
Warlock is a very good combination for paladins an can be thematically tied in with the fiend patron. Fighter also is good. An barbarian for the rage feature if you remember that you can use your spells.
Flying can be achieved by many ways: a race like agile mind says (tiefling, aasimar are the more thematic but owlin, fairy and aaracokra also have wings), magic items or some paladin capstones, or the fly spell (with 5 sorcerer or warlock levels i think).
I hope this helps you.
