Creating a character human cleric from house Deneith but I want her to be like a crazy conspiracy Karen type that is now heavily involved with the pure flame movement after studying abroad in Aundair.
I wanted to see if anyone has any funny ideas for conspiracy theories of how the mourning happened or accusations of other lands/houses that are trying to start a new war.
Best one I came up with is House Cannith is reopening the forges in secret to create a brand new super Warforged by extracting the blood and souls of Karrnath soldiers via symbiotic magic.
Or
House Ghallanda is infusing magic into the water to turn all the Warforged gay.
I am hoping you can come up with some wacky ideas.
People are being replaced by Simulacrums of themselves
Various celebrations are just distractions to cover up a secret meeting between world leaders or hiding the smuggling of something dangerous into the city.
Random ordinary animals are actually familiars that are spying on everyone
Some rich noble that is rarely seen in public is secretly a vampire
There's a giant monster living in the lake/sewers and the guards feed people they arrest to it. (Alternatively, it's an Aboleth & it's controlling anyone that doesn't wear aluminum foil on their heads)
The gods don't actually exist it is actually a group of tiny (or invisible) wizards (or fairies) that do the magic that people think is done by the gods.
The local political leaders are actually all just clones of the same person using Alter Self / Disguise Self to pretend they are different people.
We not living in the Material Plane at all, but rather a simulation of the Material Plane run by the Nine Hells to study people and how best to corrupt them.
our concept of the Mourning is completely wrong. Cyre is exactly the same as it ever was; it's the rest of us who got exiled into this hell
the wizards and artificers of Eston were attempting to undo the mistakes of the war, but their spells backfired. Now time is all wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey there. The "ghosts" in the Mournland are actually living people in the past, and we look like "ghosts" to them
the Mourning is just one big illusion. In the war, the other nations ganged up on Cyre and enslaved the populace; behind the illusions is a giant work camp
kobolds. It's kobolds

Active characters:
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
1. The truth is Cyre never existed before. What everyone sees now is what Cyre really is. It was a grand illusion that fooled the world and now the magic is gone and reality has set up.
2. Cyre is actually named Eryc. But the historians keep getting it wrong for some reason.
3. If you say Cyre three times in the light of a candle in front of a Mirror while it's dark. The Lord of Blades will appear in the mirror and give you 7 days to live. Then your body will be cut to pieces in 7 days.
4. "Water flows the wrong way in Cyre." Never explain what that actually means just insist it flows the wrong way.
5. Cyre was destroyed because of all the sins the people committed while funding the war efforts of warring nations.
6. Cyre is a prime example of what an economic collapse looks like. Then cite several ridiculous equations and theoretical numbers that don't add up but somehow justify how your math is right. One idea is "The Quasel Goat Theory of how goats can eat anything. It doesn't make sense but it all adds up right?"

it isn't a conspiracy theory if its ******* true!
I always like the super easy to disapprove conspiracy theories. Like: Neverwinter isn't a real city, it doesn't exist
"Ever met someone from there? no! ... oh them? they were lying, and are part of the cover up. For a few coins a day they run around and spread that pile of lies"
"I CAN"T just GO to neverwinter and see for myself, it DOESN'T exist!"

These are amazing!!!! Thank you.
King Galifar survived and is actually now the leader of a shadow government that rules Ebberon through deception, magic, and tooth decay
Gotta have tooth decay. This is what I am talking about!
