How would you combine these features, if possible?
My thinking was that you could use your bonus action to cast Zephyr Strike, then attack using the ZS 1d8 damage bonus. Thus, Concentration for ZS ends naturally. Then - assuming you had another attack available that round - you attack again, marking the target as your Favored Foe while at the same time immediately dinging them for an extra 1d4 damage per the FF feature. (Or more, depending on your character's level.)
The problem is the wording for Favored Foe:
"The first time on each of your turns that you hit the favored enemy and deal damage to it, including when you mark it, you increase that damage by 1d4."
To me, this wording implies that the Favored Foe feature MUST be used on the your first attack of the turn against the target. However, since both Zephyr Strike and Favored Foe require concentration, that doesn't seem viable.
Successfullly attacking while zephyr strike is being concentrated on, and using the 1d8 with advantage on the attack, doesn’t end the concentration.
the spell has a 1 minute duration while maintaining concentration. So while the advantage and 1d8 are a 1 time use during the casting, the ability to move around without opportunity attacks being triggered remains.
this is similar to most Paladin smite spells. Bonus action to cast, usually a continuing effect after the initial damage.
you can drop concentration willingly, no action required, immediately after the additional damage if you want. This would allow for favored foe to start being concentrated on during the same turn so long as another attack hits. The paragraph you cited does mean on following turns it has to be used first attack on your turn, but it is not a clause to start using the feature initially.
“When you hit a creature with an attack roll, you can call on your mystical bond with nature to mark the target as your favored enemy for 1 minute or untilyou lose your concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell).“
seems like a lot of resource expenditure to me though. This is my 2 cents and interpretation though.
Favored Foe can be used on a hit , require concentration and thus your concentration on any other spell ends immediately, but will carry effect resulting from a hit nonetheless and increase damage on the attack that initially marked the enemy as well.
So when casting and then concentrating on Zephyr Strike, your movement doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks until the spell ends, your first weapon attack roll on a turn has advantage and on a hit, you can mark the target as your Favored Foe, thus ending the spell. You roll the attack's damage +1d4 + 1d8 force damage and your walking speed increases by 30 feet until the end of that turn.
Thereafter for 1 minute or until you lose your concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell), the first time on each of your turns that you hit the favored enemy and deal damage to it, you can increase that damage by 1d4,

Am i misreading it?
