Hey folks! I’m about to start a D&D campaign that goes from level 1 to 20, set in Faerûn, using the 2024 rules, and I’m thinking about trying something a little weird.
I’m looking at a Bladesinger Wizard multiclassed with a Paladin (Oath of the Noble Genie). I know that’s not the most common combo, but the theme really grabbed me.
I rolled these stats: 17, 17, 16, 16, 13, 13 (no bonuses applied yet).
I’m mostly hoping for wizard spell recommendations that work well with this kind of character. Weapon suggestions would also be super helpful.
If anyone has advice on stat placement, level split, or things I should be careful about (action economy, survivability, etc.), I’d really appreciate it. Just trying to make something fun and playable from level 1 to 20.
Considering you'll probably be dishing out most of your damage with weapon attacks or smites, I'd imagine you'd want some good combat utility spells. Longstrider, jump, find familiar, shield, hold person, misty step, maybe magic missile or some sort of generic damage spell.
For a Bladesinger/Paladin build, I really like the dual-wielder build. Pick up a Shortsword and a Scimitar, take their weapon masteries from your Paladin multiclass (Vex and Nick), and take the Dual-Wielder feat when you can. You will be making 4 attacks per turn (Attack, Extra Attack, Nick Attack, Dual-Wielder Attack as a bonus action). To crank your damage up, use spells like Divine Favor, Spirit Shroud, or Conjure Minor Elementals which all add damage to each attack you make, and if you should get a critical hit you can still throw in the occassional Divine Smite.

Thanks!
Those stats are insane!
Any sufficiently widespread magic is indistinguishable from technology.
The second funniest thing to make a D&D party do is explain morality
Try your hand at the Ultimate Skill Build Challenge!
Yeah, the dice were definitely feeling generous that day
but i just tought in it because of the good stats since i would need at least 4 good stats
