So I am a DM in a pretty epic campaign...homebrewed. In it, the party comes to this world as normal humans from our world, and the magic of the new world gradually transforms then into the species and class they are secretly meant to be (the players drew from their top 3 most wanted of each).
They do not know what one another will become...and they learn by witnessing gradual transformations. Even a character themself won't know in roleplay (player does). I let the players choose whatever subclass they want.
In one case, a player drew Dhampir Rogue and chose to go with Dreams.
Of all the options for a Dhampir Rogue, this is the least visible. So how can I make a visible gradual transformation of her?
Arctic outdoor environment for the first 6-8 sessions. so that adds more limits (no place to spider-climb, for example).
What I have done is given the character an Urge to Bite attack...this I can fit in the Vampire Bite ability...but beyond that...no clue.
"It's Morphin' Time!" Morphius, Jared Leto's foray into Superhero movies was garbage. But it revealed a way to transform inro a vampire-lite character. It is also how Buffy and Angel handled vampire transformations. As for the dreams aspect, I believe one of the hungers you can have is emotional energy (psychic energy). Red eyes, fangs, too much eye shadow, pale skin and lines. And if you go Phantom Rogue, you eventually get ghost walk.

I am a DM who believes in fun, roleplay and storytelling. The dice always have a story to tell
If they're about dreams, maybe their transformation looks visibly tired? But they don't act tired.

Lol…. I’m just remembering how weird the Twilight films got near the end.
