Hey I'm working on bars EK gir a taldori campaign. Though to be honest I'm wondering if the bard half is worth the fuss.
I was thinking bard 3 or 4 then fighter all the way down my main interest stemming from healing spells, rituals, expertise in athletics and flourishing for weird options in combat
My stats are kind of awesome so I'm not to worried about being MAD. I'm open to replacing a lot of things on here so please go wild!
Fighter (Eldritch Knight) 15 / Bard 5 would allow you to gain a bit more and would give you the same Spell Slots as a 20th Level Paladin/Ranger. Or in other words it would make you a Multiclass Spellcaster of 10th level. In essence you would become a Bard equivalent of the Paladin, but better in some ways. With Cantrips, Expertise, Short Rest regenerating Abilities, Jack of All Trades, Extra Attack (2), ect. It would also allow your Bardic Inspiration to be regained through a short rest.
If you do Fighter (Eldritch Knight) 16 / Bard 4 you will be a 9th level Multiclass Spellcaster, you will have one less 5th level Spell Slot, your Bardic Inspiration will be weaker and require a long rest to regain. On the plus side you'll have one more Ability Score Improvement and maybe 2 more HP.
If you do Fighter 17 (Eldritch Knight) / Bard 3 you will be a 8th level Multiclass Spellcaster, you will not have 5th level spells, you will have one less Ability Score Improvement then the previous option, you will lose one Cantrip, you will lose one Spell known,. On the plus side you'll have an additional use of Action Surge, an additional use of Indomitable, and maybe 3 more HP.
My personal suggestion is Fighter (Eldritch Knight) 15/ Bard 5. As long as your Dexterity isn't crap, focus on Bard first then put all levels in Fighter. If your Dexterity is crap, first level Fighter, second level Bard, third and fourth level Fighter, fifth to eighth level Bard, ninth level onward Fighter.
The Bard combo is actually a neat idea, but it's better if you have a Dexterity of at least 14. I might use the Eldritch Knight 15 / Primary Spellcaster 5 idea in the future.
