I'm looking for advice and tactics for the above build.
My character is an ex-circus performer who now fancies himself as an adventurer. I really liked the idea and theme of running with dual whips so I went with variant human and took the Dual Wielder feat at level 1.
This is only the second character i've actually played as so i'm looking for any suggestions as to what spells to take, tactics to use etc. For example, am i better off stacking Dex of Cha (they are both at 16 at the moment). What spells are considered "must-haves"? We hit level 4 yesterday so i'm currently sat on a stat increase and an additional spell and cantrip.
If it helps the rest of the party is a Hexblade Warlock, a Wild Magic Sorcerer, a kensei Monk/Rogue and a Paladin.
How'd you get proficiency with Whips? That's neat! As for the Dex or Cha question, a 1-level dip into Hexblade is pretty beneficial for making Charisma your attack stat although ... never mind, you're making a Dual Wielder and Hex Warrior only works for one of your weapons, at least until you get to level 3 in Warlock and can summon a pact weapon. Your party looks like it's pretty good at dealing damage, but maybe a little light on defense and healing. Have you considered Bane? I've found it pretty useful both defensively, as it prevents attacks from hitting, and offensively, as it helps land those saving throw spells. Also it gives you a spell that attacks Charisma, diversifying your spell roster.

Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua ferita ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
The DM agreed to let me have proficiency with whips at level 1 as it's the basis for my character. they only do d4 damage so not exactly game-breaking.
i think i'll take a 1-level dip into hexblade anyway purely so i don't have to stack both Dex and Cha. plus by stacking Cha i can concentrate on sitting in the mid-field firing off control spells which is what i think i will need to be doing. i've taken Cloud of Daggers so i'm looking forward to casting that and using the mobility flourish to push enemies into it.
I also seem to be the default healer so I'll have to stick with Cure Wounds and healing Word.

Looks like You already have most of the top pick spells.
