My friend is going to be starting a new campaign that is supposed to be very rp heavy. I was thinking of making a GOO Warlock and COW Bard, heavily inspired by Count of Monte Cristo. His backstory is that his family was disgraced/overthrown by rivals and they sealed his magic powers to make him less of a threat (think Jade from Tales of the Abyss). This was so we could explain leveling up and multiclassing without having to do storyline shenanigans. He's just steadily unlocking his powers back. The first level is going to have him as a warlock, but I'm wondering what you guys think his level distribution/order should be. I want to focus more on the Bard side than the warlock side, but let me know what you think. Thanks!
I don't know why Cow Goo is the most common bardlock.
Based on their features, I recommend starting bard for weapon proficiencies and DEX saves, and going bard 6/warlock 14. Create thrall is a good feature.
You may also consider going bard 10/warlock 10, bard 14/warlock 6, or even bard 18/warlock 2. All depending on which abilities your in it for. I like the GOO subclass features more than the COW's, the bard has expertise and magical secrets as its reason for taking higher levels.
