I am in a 5e conversion of Rise of the Runelords in Play by Post and the DM just made a lot of home brew changes so he’s giving is the opportunity to rebuild our characters. We are currently level 3 and the party consists of a paladin, forge cleric, lore bard, archer ranger, arcane trickster rogue and myself.
My gal’s mother was touched by an unknown celestial being while pregnant (a Solar servant of Saranrae but she is unaware.)
The foundation of her build is at least 3 levels in celestial chainlock as chain familiars are boosted in the homebrew (Her celestial Imp gets proficiency to saves, AC, and proficient skills and HP = to 4 x warlock level.) I’m also sold on Gift of the Ever Living One invocation. I want her to be a defensive, self-healing blaster that relies almost entirely on Eldritch Blast plus hex for damage.
We can exchange two stat points for a feat at creation that I will probably use for Inspiring Leader (that gets a +1 Cha boost in his system.)
You should also know she has a campaign feat that makes all healing spells she casts cast at one level higher.
So here’s where I’m flummoxed. I’m leaning toward an opening level of Life Cleric for high AC (med or heavy armor dependent on Str vs Dex) plus two spell slots that would be 21 or 22 HP heals once she has GotELO. Grave cleric is also tempting as his rules give negative HP when someone hits zero. These negative HP must be overcome before they bounce back. Max HP on self and max HP on downed allies sounds great. But graves domain spells aren’t great.
I’m taking too long. Basically, I’m leaning toward 1 Cleric followed by 5 Celestial Chainlock followed by 14 Divine Soul (sorcs have great benefits under homebrew including more known spells and2 sorc points recharging in short rests) If you were building her, how would you do it? Should I go straight lock instead? No cleric splash? Start w Divine Soul for CON saves? Instead of inspiring leader take resilient CON or WIS? A cleric splash requires starting w 14 CON where no splash allows 16 CON.
so much to think about. Help!
