I'm currently working on ideas for a new character in the 5E campaign I play in; my previous character a Tortle Forge Cleric was killed a few weeks ago and, after some back & forth with the DM, am now at a blank for a new character to join the party. The party's current composition is: a Firbolg Storm Sorcerer, a Half-Elf Shadow Monk (Though doesn't seem to use much of the stealth/shadow stuff with that), an UA Revenant Tabaxi Thief Rogue, and a Kenku Shepherd Druid. The party is at lvl 5 currently, though I don't know whether that'll change soon as I've been out of the sessions without a character to play as.
My initial thinking was something to help with our lack of a frontline heavy-hitter/tank but I'd also like something that'll allow me some fun roleplaying and play up a connection to the Feywild, so maybe a Feylock/Paladin multiclass? But I've also looked at the Glamour Bard as an alternative for multiclassing into as well!
I'd appreciate any advice & suggestions from people please! (From an aesthetic perspective, I had the idea of going for something David Bowie/Marc Bolan/Glam Rock-esque in appearance & personality as well; the era fits the Feywild like a glove for me!)
If you want to continue with the nonstandard classes that it seems like everybody's going for, eladrin would fit very well with the Bowie theme. And who's to say a barbarian can't rock and roll? In my opinion, having a character with habits and hobbies outside of their class makes it so much more fun (e.g a barbarian musician, a paladin who does slam poetry, a rogue who just loves to cook, a pious fighter, etc)
All this being said, if it were me I'd have a lot of fun playing something like a human and being the "everyman" for the party's outlandish race composition. It could be pretty fun to do that (even combine it with the glam rock frontline tank that you mentioned - who doesn't love the good old ostentatious human?)
I think that barb is a cool pick, especially wild soul. However, twilight cleric and fey wanderer both make for amazing fey themed picks, and are very good in terms of min maxing and theme. I would go half elf, just because of the charisma boost (no negatives for stats), and the two skills, and the two ASI'S, and for the interaction between the outlandish party and normal people.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
