I rolled a Shadow Sorcerer 3/ Bard 2 to start a new campaign. I was originally planning to go Bard 3/Sorcerer X. However, after session one, I have been tempted by a very appealing offer to multiclass into Warlock. It would be an arch fey pact, and would make a lot of sense in character and for story purposes.
However, this would be a big change to my plans and I was hoping for some assistance.
These are my stats, in case that is relevant:
STR 11 DEX 16 CON 13 INT 15 WIS 13 CHA 18
I would appreciate some advice on how to make this a viable multiclass. I am playing in a campaign where combat seems like it will be pretty important, so I do not want to be totally useless.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions/recommendations!
If you take at least two levels in Warlock for Eldritch Blast + Agonizing Blast you won't be useless. These two give you a D10 + CHA cantrip that scales with your character level (instead of your class level) and ultimately allows you up to 4 such attacks per Action. The Quicken metamagic from your sorcerer even allows you to use that cantrip as both a bonus action and a normal action, which essentially gives you the damage of an Action Surging fighter.
Since Bard gives you access to healing spells, a third level in Warlock and the Chain pact offer you a great deal. You get a flying, invisible familiar (sprite would be fitting for an Archfey) and you can pick up the invocation "Gift of the everliving ones" which maximizes all dice rolled to heal you while your familiar is nearby. So a Healing Word would not heal you for 1d4 + Cha, but for 4 + Cha, which gives you a lot more survivability than warlocks or bards normally have. The familiar is also a great scout. :-)
From there on you can pick any class levels you like, EB + max. healing means you will always be helpful in combat, and Jack of All Trades from the bard combined with your high Cha means you'll also be helpful outside of combat and in social encounters.
