It sounds so out of place, and should deff see a change, 5.5e is a far better naming convention as the new rules are based around 5e. Hell I would even take calling it “D&D Fiddyfifth” but “one D&D” is pretty lame.
The name is a change from the established convention, but so is the content. I like the name because it's about more than the rules changes, it includes the changes to bundle physical and digital books, and the virtual tabletop experience. It really is One D&D, no matter where you are in physical or virtual space.
I think that "One D&D" is the playtest name only; in the simila way "D&D Next" was the playtest phase of the previous edition.
As it is an evolution of 5th, instead of 5.5 (it has ties with the well beloved 3.5 ed but also seems like this has done before), it could be called 5+ edition. Today, there are a lot of name+ convention in the sense of "we give you MORE". So, as D&D has become so popular, maybe a nod to a general, more broad public could be good. And they truly are givin' us more, hehehehe.
