I feel like this great concept for a feat was done dirty.
Card Focus is a generic, boring ability that's just another modifier and another resource to track. Hard no, regardless of balance. Card Tricks makes True Strike seem useful by comparison. The one good thing that can be said about it is that you get Prestidigitation without using a cantrip slot if you didn't already have it. Hidden Ace is the one cool ability of the bunch. It actually feels like the kind of ability you'd gain as a benefit of using card-based casting. Metamagic Adept accomplishes the same and more though.
So, what are some ideas to retain the flavour of the feat but make it more fun?
Personally I like the idea of scrapping Card Focus and Card Tricks, in exchange building the entire feat around an ability similar to Hidden Ace but better. Such as: Version A: Hidden Ace, but after you use your ace, you randomly select an applicable spell from your prepared spells for a new ace. Version B: You can cast any 1-action spell as a bonus action, but you lose use of the spell until your next long rest if you do so, since you're consuming the spell's card manifestation to do so.
I feel like the bonus action casts really lean into frontline casters,
