In the new Horror themed UA, the Grave Domain cleric's Circle of Mortality uses a condition not found in 5e or 5.5e - Bloodied. How should it be handled? I know in 4e, it was used to denote when a creature was at half total hit points, but Bloodied isn't in 5e/5.5e. Should it be triggered if the target has hit point damage on them?
After every attack ask the DM if the target is bloodied. I am sure he will love you for it.
Let us give another thing for the DM to focus on and try to remember. Here are all my monsters and NPC's. This is HP max and here is Bloodied. Just need to remember to inform players so I they have a feature that needs bloodied targets and remind players they are attacking a bloodied target.
Meta the game to know when a target has half or less of their max HP.
Not a fan of If this happens then you can use your class feature otherwise it is useless.
My DM's announced that the target was bloodied since we played 4e. He said it during 5e even when it wasn't an official condition. I don't think that he's going to feel burdened by something that he thought was a good idea and maintained it even when we moved on from 4e.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
I finally got around to looking at the Grave Domain cleric and it looks really solid. None of the abilities I look at and think, lame. All of them look solid, if not spectacular. The spell list is decent, but not great. The big advantage is not having to spend a prep slot on things like Revivify which I always want to have, but rarely feel I will need. With a standard priest it feels like a tax, and grave domain gives me an exemption. Return to life is great for picking someone up. Pull of death will do something often enough to feel good, but not so often that you'll outshine people. Path of the grave is an amazing channel divinity. I'd use that frequently. It might be a bit too good. I like Sentinel at Death's Door. It's limited, but impactful and will likely activate often enough that clerics will use it often. Enhanced Necromancy is pretty meh, but I like keeper of souls.
All in all, I like what they have done here.

It's defined in the glossary of the new PHB

It was a very commonly used condition in 4e and DMs managed to handle tracking it back then without any problems.

So. for the sake of 1 HP a Class feature can be useless. I picked a subclass to be able to use my features.
No one said you had to like it, but this thread was someone asking what it meant because they weren't familiar with the term.
