They just kind of throw stuff out there when they like. And also, sometimes the things in UA never get printed, and sometimes they like to keep us on our toes and include UAs for multiple upcoming products.
And, as wagnarokkr says they haven’t announced anything.
It’s quite odd, really, to have no announced books for next year at this point. Usually we’ll know 2-3, and have placeholders for 1-2 more.
Love the UAs so much potentiale with some small tweaks. But its nerve wrecking and a folly to hope the actual well designed ones goes full offical. Time and time again they mangle and butcher, even replace the awesome stuff with absolte stale soup piece of wtf? No wonder some think theres some spiteful designers getting the final say for classes and sub-classes. Want exampless???
- The travesty that is the Ranger and some of its sub-classes. No sharp and tought out identity. Dont get me started on the Capstone! No base class feats and abilities for levels to avoid players bailing out into another class. Weak reason to go full Ranger. You REALLY have to dig deep and strecth it to to maximum niche
- We got Banneret.. Instead of the UAs potentially awesome Purple Dragon Knight. Maybe we get it later as a separate for the better. Or a general Dragon Knight sub class that let you CHOOSE which of the 5 well known true dragons from the main Chromatic, Gem and Metallic families + guide on hiw to slot in lesser knowns and misc dragons like, exsmples: actual Purples, Deep, Orange, Yellow, Gray, Brown, Jacinth, Citrine, Pearl, Ruby, Obsidian, Cobalt, Iron, Tungsten, Chromium, Nickel ercetc ,you want to be a knight for with distinct class benefits! Imagine a Draconic Pact Warlock sub-class having such options to choose just as many dragon Patrons?
- The Psion. For the love of such class please make it work!!
- The Horror sub classes. YES Necromancer Wizard and UNDEAD Pact Warlock. Glad to see the others too.
Also.
Update and include Draconic Sorcery with GEM dragon options. And include Gem Dragonborn options. Both these in a fitting source book.
Not least race/ pecies trait options from Xanathars Guide to Everything. With guide to fine tune and bake in fitting traits into the species and its sub-species themself or to pick at certin levels ( lvl 5 ) as traits
Dragon Fear and Dragon Hide comes to mind.
Though a new Dragon Melee should use the claw attack options instead of Dragon Hide. Along with Bite ( Piercing ) and Tail ( Bludgeoning ) Attacks as choose one of thrm as Bonus Action. Claws as an Multiattack Action with both hands: 2d4 + Strenght OR Dex mod Slashing
In the end.
Rather include a WEALTH of character options in official phtsical and digital books than to cut and gut content we players gave to work hard to revive as homebrew.And that DMs like myself can " shop " things from an official source than to keep track of players wanting homebrews and wishes from official sources we DMs might not have.
Im a harsh critiq of WotC because I see POTENTIALE and gaps with many aspects of D&D. Please WotC. Would buy the source books including such of what I want above, times over to me and friends in a heartbeat
