Do we have any idea of when Battlesmith / Archivist will be added to DnD Beyond?
Our campaign uses beyond for keeping track of things so if Battlesmith is a long way off i'll make a bunch of magic items to represent the subclass. I just don't want to waste time if Battlesmith will be coming in the next week or so.
DDB does not work in ETAs... You can either assume they will add something in 1 or 2 weeks amd be disappointed, or assume they will add it after the WotC poll for it ends and just be pleasantly surprised if it comes out sooner.
But seriously DDB, you have to work on your update frequency. The battle smith has similar features to beast masters and hexblades. I know the creature page won't update to reflect all of the features, but you can fix that later (I don't think that is what the holdup is, but if not that, then what?).
To OP: you can homebrew the Iron Defender in 5-10 minutes (thats what I did). You can add the bonus spells with a custom feat, overwrite your weapon bonuses, and it is pretty much playable from there.

They mentioned that the change in spellcasting levels did give them a challenge, since the Artificer is rounding up while all others so far had been rounded down.

That is fair, though subclasses don't depend on that. And they did release the new infusions. So they could release subclasses before finishing that. (Personally, I think artificer should just get leveled spellcasting at level 2 and get cantrips at level 1 from a different feature).

Thanks for the reply !
I haven't used the homebrew creation tools (aside from magic items) before but i'll give it a go !
