It's my fist post here and I'm overall pretty new to dnd. I'm currently playing my first character - a 5th level Dao Genie warlock with both of pact of the chain invocations who focuses more on utility and battlefield control than on damage. I'm also the face of the party in most of social interactions.
For plot reasons I've wanted to multiclass into bard as my next level but I'm not sure how big of a dip should I take. I would prefer to get all of my patron features at some point so that leaves me with 6 levels to spare.
Another thing is I'm not sure which college would be best for me. I'm currently torn between valor, eloquence and creation. I thought valor would help me solve my AC issues with that medium armor and shield proficiencies but the more I think about it taking moderately armored might be a better choice.
Any suggestions how I should build my warlock/bard?
Largely agree with Lilith, at most I would go 5 bard for font of inspiration to get your inspiration back on a short rest, but that WOULD lose Wish which is a hard sell. Personally I think 1 level dip Bard and back to Warlock until level 11 could also be pretty solid since just a 1 level dip gets you bardic inspiration and a couple first level spell slots and lock 11 gets you the third 5th level slot and your first mystic arcanum. Though going straight to level 3 with the bard can make you feel like a strong half caster at level 8 and 9.
I was really happy with my Celestial lock/Glamour Bard

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
