so im trying to find a D&D FB page about character creations. but im out of luck. so im wondering what you all think of my warlcok build so far. we are only level 3 in our campaign so far.
Race: Human (variant) Class: Warlock 3 stats: s:8 D:10 Con:16 Int:13 (+1 from human) Wisdom:10 Char:16 (+1 from human)
Raven queen Patron. giving me the bonus of a raven familiar for free, Pact of the Blade: with improved pact weapon so i can use a longbow.
and agonizing blast. because its standard.
Feats: ritual caster wizard, giving me access to find familiar and comprehend languages.
so in essence i was able to gain the basic abilities of each pact but only choosing the blade.
so remember, raven queen patron allowing for the free raven. pact of the blade (with invocation) allowing for my pact weapon to be a bow. as well as ritual caster feat, allowing for find familiar spell.
the other option is to drop ritual caster, and take either alert feat or sharpshooter feat. allowing for a warlock archer thats single class. making all spells higher levels without compromising any warlock levels by not mulitclassing.
I'm currently playing a Raven Queen Warlock in my Curse Of Strahd group, and I love the subclass, I wish it had made it into Xanathar's Guide. Your build looks fine, I might have gone with Identify instead of Comprehend Languages, unless there was already someone else in your party who could get it. If you already have a Wizard in the group, I'd probably forego the Ritual Caster feat, your Wizard will be better at it. The big concern I see is how are you going to be a Bladelock with a Strength of 8 and a Dexterity of 10? Only the Hexblade gets to use Charisma as their Pact Weapon attack stat. With your Dex at 10 your AC is going to be pretty low, even with Armor Of Shadows.
Just curious... why are you choosing to use a longbow? Agonizing Blast will give your Eldritch Blast more damage output... and it is very very rare for a DM to ever allow combat that exceeds 120'. They like to get you into 30' or less and then "Roll Initiative". At 5th level, you'll even be able to attack more with your Eldritch Blast (2 separate attacks using one action). Not saying you are wrong for choosing it, I'm curious as to what story is driving you to choose Longbow with a Warlock?
My warlock has his flaws, that is for sure. Because of where my backstory went, he has Devil's Sight and Armor of Shadows. Certainly not an optimized character (I can't wait to get Agonizing Blast next level), but because of his story it was logical and meaningful. And because of those areas of weakness, I was able to find some strengths that utilized the choices I made (Darkness is very powerful for my Warlock).
