Warlock's "replace spell" mechanic reads: "Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the warlock spells you know and replace it with another spell from the warlock spell list, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots."
If my character is a 1st level Warlock and 9th level sorcerer, and then at 10th level, I go up in Warlock, the verbiage above seems to indicate that I can replace a Warlock spell that I know, with another Warlock spell that I know, that can be up to 5th level, since I have spell slots up to 5th level.
This has probably been ruled as NOPE, but I wanted to double check.
"Spells Known and Prepared. You determine what spells you know and can prepare for each class individually, as if you were a single-classed member of that class. If you are a ranger 4/wizard 3, for example, you know three 1st-level ranger spells based on your levels in the ranger class. As 3rd-level wizard, you know three wizard cantrips, and your spellbook contains ten wizard spells, two of which (the two you gained when you reached 3rd level as a wizard) can be 2nd-level spells."
Pact magic doesn’t play well with spellcasting from other classes. In this case, when you took your 1st level of warlock, you chose 2 spells. At level 2 warlock, you can swap one of those 2 spells for a different warlock spell. And, of course, you learn one more spell. Those warlock spells, at this point, are only 1st level warlock spells. You can upcast them as a fifth level spell using sorcerer slots, but the one you learn as a warlock are limited by the warlock rules (pact spell power scales with warlock level, not character level), so using your pact magic slots for casting, they could only be 1st level so far.
