Just took my second level in warlock. I tried to take Lessons of the First Ones twice for my 2 new invocations. Dungeon master read it differently (thought it could only be taken once / level) to how I did and we decided to do some research and come back to the choice.
My question is, can you take the same repeatable invocation twice at level 2, assuming that you meet the prerequisites?
Short answer is yes. There is no reason you can't take lesson's of the first one twice at level 2, but each time you have to take a different origin feat. Just treat each "origin feat" as if it is its own invocation.
Cool, so with me taking skilled and magic initiate should be no problem.
The only thing to keep in mind there is that if you take Magic Initiate twice, you have to choose a different class spell list each time. You can't, for instance, take it with Wizard twice to get twice as many free Wizard spells.

Thanks for that. We had already come to an agreement that because I feats it's listed as 1 feat, I could only take it once regardless, which I'm fine with.
We are playing a party of only 3 and we made characters separately, so during character building, I made a cha rogue because the other 2 are new players and expected it to be a dump stat. With my shit luck, one of the others chose a scorcerer and the other a barbarian, so we have no one with good int and no healers. So I decided to warlock multiclassing and in 1 level I will be going celestial for some healing. However for now I chose MI Cleric for cure wounds and need skilled for 1. Investigation prof and 2. Arcana so I can make scrolls.
